Correctional Center for Adolescents - Richmond, Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center, Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice

Serves a coed population, males age 14 -18 and females age 11-20, who have been committed by the juvenile court. Residents placed at the facility have been convicted of crimes ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. Lengths of commitment may range from a minimum of 3-6 months to a maximum of 7 years or until the resident's 21st birthday. Residents receive educational, vocational, mental health and rehabilitative counseling services. Specialized treatment programs include substance abuse, aggression management, sex offender, and intensive therapeutic programming. Academic and vocational training is provided on campus by the Department of Correctional Education. Residents are able to earn a high school diploma or GED. Recreation, religious and volunteer programming is also provided.

Juvenile Detention Center - Lynchburg, Regional Juvenile Detention, Lynchburg Juvenile Services

Provides pre-dispositional secure custody of up to 48 juveniles placed by the J&D and Family Court Services System. Program offers educational, recreational, medical, supervision, and assessment services along with room, board and clothing. Post-Dispositional Alternative Services are available to the court for youth in lieu of commitment to state learning centers.

Jails/Prisons - Dublin, New River Valley Regional Jail

Houses administrative offices, a magistrate's office, public and professional visiting areas, kitchen, laundry, library, classrooms, medical unit, basketball court, two contained outdoor recreation yards, and a secure vehicle sallyport for loading and unloading prisoners. Offers a home electronic monitoring program (H.E.M.) that uses state-of-the-art Radio Frequency (RF) Monitoring to track non-violent offenders. Through a Work Release Program, participants are housed at the jail throughout their tenure on the program. Each individual is monitored and is subject to random drug testing. Provides various programs to inmates on an equal basis. Currently, program offerings include the following: Alcoholics Anonymous, Anger Management Classes, GED Classes, Substance Abuse Classes, Workforce Readiness Classes, and Various Religious Programs. Participation is voluntary.

A jail facility of approximately 264,000 square feet with a rated capacity for 605 inmates with another 200 beds double bunked for a total of 805 inmates. Built by coalition of four localities that formed the Western Virginia Regional Jail Authority which includes the counties of Franklin, Montgomery, and Roanoke and the city of Salem. Houses both male and female inmates who are sentenced waiting for release or transfer to the Dept. of Corrections. Houses overflow inmates from the existing Franklin, Montgomery and Roanoke county jails, to include those with segregation, medical or mental health needs.

Correctional Center for Adolescents - Chesterfield, Central Admssion and Placement, Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice

CAP Unit was established upon the closure of the RDC. The core functions include the receipt and review of all commitment packets as well as the intake, orientation, and evaluation phase of a resident's direct care admission.
