Legal Advocates, are not lawyers, but work in conjunction with law enforcement officials and judicial systems to help navigate the way to safety. The Legal Advocate works closely with Victim/Witness personnel to make sure that survivors are given all appropriate legal resources.

Latinos in Virginia Empowerment Center provides victims of violence and their families with services that respond to their emotional, physical, and cultural needs in order to help them to become healthy and sufficient. These services include peer counseling, case management, personal advocacy and accompaniment services, emergency shelter, housing, and emergency financial assistance.

Domestic Violence Social Worker will accompany victims of domestic abuse to request a protective order in Bedford Court System. The domestic violence social worker will provide referrals to attorneys, prepare victims for their experience in the courtroom and assist victims in preparing a personalized safety plan.

Confidential placement for victims of domestic violence and or sexual assault 18 years or older and their children if under 18.

The Domestic Violence program of Family Service of Roanoke Valley includes an anger management program on Monday evenings and a healthy relationship group on Wednesday evenings. Individual and couples therapy is also provided as appropriate. The program is designed to interrupt abusive behavioral patterns and teach new ways of relating and dealing with conflict in intimate relationships.

Offer 3 transitional housing units for families moving from emergency shelter to permanent housing. Families may stay from 6 months to two years as they work to become self-sufficient.
