AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides tax assistance to anyone, free of charge, with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low to moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.
Personal Property - Ensure every vehicle, trailer, and boat which is located in Lynchburg is filed for personal property taxes. Business License - Ensure every business in Lynchburg is properly licensed. Real Estate Tax Relief - Assist elderly and disabled in filing for relief of real estate taxes. State Income Taxes - Process all locally filed income tax returns and ensure individuals have filed correctly. Administration of meals, lodging and amusement taxes for the City of Lynchburg.

From Feburary to mid-April, CTA provides free tax preparation services to individuals with no more than $64,000 in income. This free service is provided by trained volunteers. All tax preparation is by appointment only.
The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $67,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals in local communities.

Free tax-preparation assistance for individuals in low-to-moderate income levels. TCC accounting faculty members administer the tax preparation help as a region-wide community service through VITA. As volunteers trained and certified by the IRS to handle simple tax returns, TCC students from the Accounting Club and the Federal Taxation I Class provide the services with faculty supervision. All TCC-assisted tax returns will be electronically filed from the on-campus locations.
