The agency provides funds to assist with utility bills or rental payments once every 12 months. Clients must meet income requirements to be eligible for funds. Individuals and families are assisted based on the availability of funds.

Provides housing assistance to individuals with HIV/AIDS and serves as a support system for clients and their families. Clients receive emergency assistance for short-term mortgage, rental and utility payments. Services include case management and financial assistance.

Catholic Charities' (CCDA) Emergency Assistance program helps people experiencing a temporary financial crisis with rent and/or utility assistance and there is a likelihood that this crisis will not repeat. CCDA work to prevent evictions or the termination of essential utilities. Catholic Charities views an emergency as a crisis that deprives or threatens to deprive a person of basic human needs. Basic human needs include but are not limited to housing, essential utilities (i.e., gas, water, electric, oil for heating).

Emergency financial assistance to individual families referred by a social worker or LINK sponsored church clergy when funds available. Provide financial resources to cover rent or utility costs. Case Managers conduct a needs assessments to understand long-term needs and link clients to resources in the region. With this opens the availability for long term whole family care with case managers available. Financial Assistance can only be offered once per fiscal year.

Emergency financial assistance is available to registered GoochlandCares clients for rent/mortgage, utilities, heat and other needs in certain situations. When families seek financial assistance, they are required to meet with one of our financial counselors.

We do not assist with security deposits or first month rent. PCC assists eligible clients one time per year, depending on funding availability. All payments are made directly to vendors. The Energy Assistance Program (EAP)consists of three components; Fuel Assistance (FA), Coolng Assistance (CA) and Emergency Crisis Assistance (CAP). The FA component is intended to provide supplemental assistance to offset the rising costs of heating expenses. The CAP component is intended to provide assistance with heating equipment needs and emergency fuel outages. Fuel Assistance opens the second Tuesday in October. The last day for applying is the second Friday in November. Main Qualifications: Have a heating need, meet the income and resource levels, include all persons living in the household, live in an eligible living arrangement and meet the citizenship requirements. Crisis Assistance applicants must meet the following: income level, resource level. Deposits: Opens the first working day in November. May only receive once per lifetime per fuel type. (Natural gas, electric and LP gas) Heating Equipment: Opens November 1st or the first working day in November for Replacement, purchase, or repair of primary heating source. Primary Fuel: Opens the first working day in January. It is for those that did not receive fuel assistance. Requires cut off notice for electric and gas. Almost out of fuel oil, wood, coal or island purchased kerosene. Cooling Assistance: Is offered during the beginning in mid-June. Must meet eligibility requirements.
