The Hope Center will assist eligible persons from the city of Petersburg with utilities annually. Persons will be eligible for service based on identifiable needs and current poverty levels.

Provides a crisis intervention program that offers food, clothing, housing assistance (to avoid foreclosure or eviction), fuel assistance, transportation or medical emergency. Clients applying for cash assistance must be able to pay a portion of the bill. Clients are eligible for cash assistance only once a year. Gives referrals for services not available directly.

Provides financial assistance, if funds are available, for utilities with cut-off notice or rent with eviction notice on a case-by-case basis.

Emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, childcare, transportation or work equipment

Food pantry, clothing, furniture, household items. Emergency financial assistance with electric, water & utility arrears and rent evictions. Prefer professional referral for these.

Assist needy families utility bills, heating oil and gas. All applicants are screened through Amherst County Social Services or through personal contact from our group.

Provide assitsance with utilities, emergency housing, medical expenses and other needs of those referred to us by the local Departments of Social Services after assistance from governmental sources has been exhausted.

Provides temporary rental assistance, mortgage, utilities, food, household products, prescriptions, transportation, and dental costs for individuals and families residing in New River Valley and transients who are experiencing a financial crisis who meet the eligibility guidelines · Utility payment assistance - up to $500 per year · Food, household supplies, diapers, and infant formula - monthly Assistance is available for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines (example: $52,400 for a family of four). · For Rental or mortgage payment assistance, call our Housing Crisis Hotline at 540-639-3159.

Provides emergency assistance for utilities. Must present the paper disconnect notice from utility.

The H2O program is funded through the public utility companies of Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake with funds being replenished every 2 months (January, March, May, July, September, November respectively). H2O funds can only go toward city water/waste billing accounts. Funds are distributed based on city of residence and are available until they run out. Financial assistance with housing (rent or mortgage payments) or basic utilities (heating, cooling, water). LCEF will cover a portion of the payment for one month. See Intake procedures.

This program provides housing counseling to individuals with HIV/AIDS and serves as a support system for clients and their families. Clients receive emergency assistance for short-term rental, utility payments, transportation and food.

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP)consists of three components; Fuel Assistance (FA), Cooling Assistance (CA) and Emergency Crisis Assistance (CAP). The FA component is intended to provide supplemental assistance to offset the rising costs of heating expenses. The CAP component is intended to provide assistance with heating equipment needs and emergency fuel outages. Fuel Assistance opens the second Tuesday in October. The last day for applying is the second Friday in November. Main Qualifications: Have a heating need, meet the income and resource levels, include all persons living in the household, live in an eligible living arrangement and meet the citizenship requirements. Crisis Assistance applicants must meet the following: income level, resource level. Deposits: Opens the first working day in November. May only receive once per lifetime per fuel type. (Natural gas, electric and LP gas) Heating Equipment: Opens November 1st or the first working day in November for Replacement, purchase, or repair of primary heating source. Primary Fuel: Opens the first working day in January. It is for those that did not receive fuel assistance. Requires cut off notice for electric and gas. Almost out of fuel oil, wood, coal or island purchased kerosene. Cooling Assistance: Is offered during the beginning in mid-June. Must meet eligibility requirements.

Provides general and specific relief in the way of utilities with cut-off notices for gas, water and electricity; rent and also assists with medication payment.

Provides financial assistance to families in emergency situations. Includes utility and rental assistance. Must obtain application for assistance from the Gloucester County Department of Social Services.

The Community Resource Center welcomes anyone who may need guidance about various services in the area, which ones may be able to help you, and how to reach them. This includes services such as counseling, pastoral care, utility assistance, family and children services, health care, transportation, and more. The Community Resource Center also provides utility assistance to those facing electric, gas, or water disconnections.
