The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance provides financial assistance to clients caught in emergency, short-term, financial situations beyond their control that endanger personal well-being. An emergency condition is one that arises suddenly, is unforeseen and urgent, and requires immediate attention. Emergency assistance is generally authorized in circumstances that impose a serious financial or personal hardship on the client requiring urgent help to relieve the situation.
