Almost out of fuel oil, wood, coal or island purchased kerosene. Cooling Assistance: Is offered June 15 thru August 15. Must meet eligibility requirements and have at least one vulnerable person in the household (child under six, person over 60, or disabled person). EnergyShare is not income based. Contact the Amelia County Department of Social Services for screening requirements and to schedule an appointment.

Applications are accepted beginning October 9 with distribution of funds and pay out in January. Applications are taken until funds are exhausted. The program helps those in need regardless of the type of heat used and only after all other assistance has been exhausted.

This includes services such as counseling, pastoral care, utility assistance, family and children services, health care, transportation, and more. The Community Resource Center also provides utility assistance to those facing electric, gas, or water disconnections.
