For those facing financial hardship from unemployment, a family crisis, or a chronic medical condition, EnergyShare is Dominion's energy assistance program of last resort. Those under age 60 must have a disconnect notice (those age 60 or older do not need a disconnect notice). EnergyShare is a Salvation Army program which determines eligibility for EnergyShare and may have additional requirements when qualifying customers for this program. he Authority has two main functions. The production of wholesale water to its members and solid waste collection services. The production of water is accomplished by utilizing the main well at the water treatment plant and Well #4. These two sources are capable of producing over two million gallons per day. The water treatment plant is a state of the art filtration plant built in the late 90’s. Over 75% of the inhabited structures in the County are supplied by public water. Four Towns and the County provide retail distribution of water to the end user (County operates Glen Lyn system). The PSA have executed a Capital Improvement Plan and Asset Management Plan. At present the Authority operates four manned convenience centers at Lurich, Newport, Pembroke and Route 100 near Pearisburg. Solid waste services include door to door pickup weekly.
