The A-NPDC is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency. We have adopted the National Industry Standards for home ownership and default counseling and education. HUD Certifed Housing Counselors are on staff. Offer workshops and counseling in pre-purchase and post-purchase home ownership, rental, financial literacy, fair housing, and other topics. Education services are available to groups off-site on requested topics in addition to regularly scheduled courses.

A website of available affordable rental units throughout Virginia that helps renters find housing based on their specific needs. The service also provides links to rental housing resources and helpful tools for renters such as an affordability calculator, rental checklist, and information about renter rights and responsibilities. Landlords can list their affordable units for free.

Middleburg FISH provides temporary financial assistance to help with rent, utilities, and medicine. The service area is western Loudoun County, west of Route 15, not including Leesburg and northern Fauquier County.

This is a program that renders short-term emergency services. Services provided are emergency food, clothing, and financial assistance for rent/utilities. Clients requesting financial assistance must be able to document extreme financial need. Request for financial assistance is limited to once every 12 months. This also applies for food assistance request. The Clothes closet (ONLY) is available to all residents of Henrico County and clients may use the clothes closet twice per year (seasonally).

The Housing Resource Center (HRC) in Petersburg is the coordinated entry point for households in the Tri-Cities area. If you are facing a housing crisis in the Tri-Cities area, call the HRC at 804-722-1181. All callers are encouraged to leave a message with contact information. Calls will be returned as soon as possible. Please note that the HRC does not provide emergency shelter and is not able to provide immediate connection to housing.

Provides emergency financial rental assistance. St. Francis will only provide funds when client provides information on where additional financial assistance funds are coming from. The dollar amount of assistance is determined on a case by case basis. No assistance for Section 8 housing.

Work with people going through eviction and those whose utilities are being turned off. Once an eviction notice/utility shut-off notice has been served, we will work directly with the leasing office/utility company to pledge the last $100 after other payments and pledges are made. We will also assist with the last $100 towards security deposits for people moving into our coverage area. Assistance is provided once every 12 months for those who qualify. Funds are on a first come, first serve basis.

Provides emergency financial assistance to eligible low-income families and individuals for rent, utilities, prescriptions, and other necessities when available. We do not assist with security deposits or first month rent. PCC assists eligible clients one time per year, depending on funding availability. All payments are made directly to vendors. Prescription assistance is available for eligible clients, based on funding. PCC serves only southeast and northeast Roanoke City, eastern Roanoke County and Vinton residents.

This program helps those who are elderly, disabled or victims of fire. Based on each individual's need and our Board's guidelines, they may receive assistance with any of the following: material items, food. Some may qualify for assistance with rent, mortgage, utilities and heating (oil/propane/firewood).

Some newly constructed rental and senior housing developments provide a limited number of discounted units through the Affordable Rental Set-Aside program. Units designated as affordable set-asides have long-term affordability requirements, are discounted by the developer to levels affordable to low- and moderate-income renters, and rents and income limits are monitored by the City. The units are rented directly from each participating property and interested persons should contact these properties directly to determine availability (exception noted).

Offers financial help for those in crisis situations. Applicants are screened by Social Services and the Community Action Agency and interviewed by AICC volunteers. Approved funds are paid to the vendors from the AICC, distributed by a provider, to help pay for services such as housing, medical care, and utilities, in Accomack County VA only.
