The Weatherization Assistance Program provides funds to reduce the heating and cooling costs for low-income families and to ensure their health and safety. The program provides repairs and improvements to home heating and cooling systems and provides installation of energy-saving measures in the house, such as air sealing and insulation.

Loans available for purchase of a new septic system or upgrades to an existing septic system: Up to $15,000. Septic Loans are now at 1% interest, 5-10 year loan term, and available in the following states: DE, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT.

Offers low income homeowners the opportunity to have their homes become more energy efficient. Crew members are also available to provide private weatherization assistance on a for profit basis to area residents, time permitting.

Habitat DC-NOVA provide critical home repair and aging in place services to residents in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. Habitat DC-NOVA partner with organizations that provide an in-home functionality assessment done by a licensed therapist to best determine residents' repair needs.

Provide repairs including roof replacement, access ramps, floor repair, and more. Repair work is performed by teams of about 7 volunteers, often including high school youth. Volunteers work for one week at a time. Many projects require multiple weeks to complete. Provide year-round services in Lee County and serve during the summer in other areas of southwest Virginia.

Assists low-income families and individuals to remove imminent health and safety hazards from their homes. Acceptable repairs include the repair of roofs, floors, building of ramps and porches, heating system repair and structural repair. Funds are limited to $4000 per client; client must pay remainder of repair work and client is responsible for getting three bids from licensed contractors. These funds are provided by a very limited Essential Home Accessibility and Repair Program (EHARP) grant.

The Home Repair for the Elderly Program is designed to provide minor home repairs and/or accessibility modifications to eligible low- and moderate-income elderly homeowners and individuals living with disabilities for homes in which they are currently residing. Fairfax County will provide a crew to do up to one week's worth of labor and provide up to $1000 in materials to complete necessary repairs. Income restrictions apply.

Granting Freedom is a grant program (up to $8,000) for home modifications for disabled veterans or disabled servicemen or women who sustained a line of duty injury resulting in a service-connected disability. Assists with getting indoor plumbing work done. Repairs and construction are done in the spring and summer.

This program provides low-interest loans for homebuyers, down payment and closing cost assistance, home repair loans, and a Homeownership Education Program. Staff also provide housing counseling which includes budget and credit counseling, mortgage default and foreclosure counseling, Fair Housing counseling, and financial management.

The household water well system loan program is designed to assist low- to moderate-income individuals needing loans to construct, refurbish and service their household well systems. The purpose of the program is to target loans to the significant numbers of homeowners in the seven states whose geographically isolated households lack water service, but for whom it is not feasible to be connected to new or existing community water systems. Serves the following states Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont . The Individual Household Well Loan Program can be up to $15,000. Interest rate at 1% and term can be up to 10 years.

Weatherizes dwellings to assist low income households to offset the high cost of home heating. Work may include reducing air infiltration and installing insulation, roof repair, checking heating systems for safety and repairing or replacing as necessary, and caulking.
