Provides critical home repair services to low-to-moderate income homeowners in Franklin County. The purpose is to help homeowners alleviate health and safety issues in and around their home. Eligible repairs include small roof repairs, handicap accessibility, window and door replacement, sidewalk and exterior stair repair, siding repair, electrical, plumbing and water supply and septic systems.

Virginia Housing’s Granting Freedom program makes funding available to assist with modifications to housing units to make them accessible for Virginia service members and veterans who sustained a line-of-duty injury resulting in a service-connected disability. The modifications made to the home must relate to the occupant’s functional use of the home. Typical modifications include but are not limited to installation of ramps and chairlifts; widening of doorways and sidewalks; remote entry devices; alterations to bathrooms and kitchens. Provides a government lending for housing repairs for low and very low-income applicants only. For very-low income homeowners 62 years old and older who cannot afford a loan to make necessary repairs, grant funds are available. Grants may be used to remove health or safety hazards, or to remodel dwellings to make them accessible to household members with disabilities. Grants are limited to lifetime assistance of $7,500.

Improves housing occupied by low-income persons by completing limited repairs and removing imminent health and safety hazards and/or barriers to habitability in their homes. Work may include: Plumbing repairs; Structural repairs where hazards exist; Electrical repairs where hazards exist; Roof repair/replacement; Repair/replacement of heating systems; Wheelchair ramps; Hand railings and grab bars; Kitchen and bathroom adaptations; Doorway widening.

Typically, we assist with roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electric, hot water, well, and septic. We may be able to assist on other repairs as funding and labor are available, and dependent upon the number of ongoing repairs in the community.

Virginia Housing’s Rental Unit Modification Grant makes funding available to assist with modifications to rental units to make them accessible for a specific tenant with disabilities. The modifications made to the rental unit must make the unit accessible to the tenant. Typical modifications include but are not limited to installation of ramps and chairlifts; widening of doorways and sidewalks; remote entry devices; alterations to bathrooms and kitchens.

Offers fast but limited assistance to families and individuals that find themselves faced with a serious housing problem. Assists households with the removal of a health or safety deficiency.

Funding to construct ramps, install grab bars, railings and complete other home modifications that will enable a disabled individual to remain independent within their own homes. Availability depends on funding sources.

Rehabilitates homes for low to moderate income families within the county of Nelson. Also have an Emergency Home Repair Program for the Elderly and Disabled. Repairs including major systems such as septic repairs, roofs, ramps, bathroom repairs and modifications, deck replacements, and heating and air conditioning installation and repairs. We DO NOT DO cosmetic repairs such as painting unless it is part of a larger project. DO NOT repair sheds or do landscaping.

Repairs to decks, not a part of main entrance to home. Landscaping to include fences, and driveways. Major fire or water damage to home. Mold, asbestos, and lead mitigation.

Habitat for Humanity partners with low-income homeowners who live in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park to make exterior and interior home repairs that alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or housing code violations. From minor exterior repairs to critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and weatherization.
