Hypothermia Shelter Services will be provided in the Prince William Area from November 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. These services aim to prevent the loss of life or limb due to extreme cold weather conditions. The Hypothermia Shelter Services in Prince William Area will be provided by two organizations: StreetLight Ministries and Manassas Baptist Church. 1. StreetLight Ministries (Eastern Prince William County): Location: Super 8 Hotel, 17416 Jefferson Davis Highway, Dumfries, VA Capacity: 26 beds Operating Hours: 6:00 PM - 7:45 AM (open nightly regardless of temperature) Contact: [email protected] or call 703-227-7140 Reservation Process: Monday - Friday (8:30 AM - 5:30 PM): Contact the Coordinated Entry System (CES) to reserve a bed. Saturday - Sunday: Call StreetLight Ministries directly at 703-227-7140. Note: This is not a first come, first served process. You must have a reservation to be admitted. Manassas Baptist Church (Western Prince William County): Location: 8730 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20110 Capacity: 22 beds and 5 chair spaces Operating Hours: Monday - Sunday: 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM Wednesdays: 8:30 PM - 6:30 AM Sundays: Shelter remains open until 8:30 AM before church services begins. Contact: 571-277-0728 Important Details: Open when temperature reaches 32F or below, including wind chill. CES will announce if the shelter is open or closed on Thursdays and Mondays. This is on a first come, first serve basis. Clients may line up 20 minutes prior to opening on nights the shelter is active. Transportation is not provided; however, a bus stop is located next to the church.

The Coordinated Entry System (CES) is a process developed to ensure that all people experiencing a housing crisis have fair and equal access to available resources and services. The CES team is trained in crisis response and will identify, assess, refer, and connect households to resources based on their strengths and needs. Provides the WATTS program, (Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter) which offers emergency shelter to families and individuals in the City of Winchester and County of Frederick. The program is comprised of various churches who network to provide weekly stays (Monday PM to Monday AM) for those needing emergency shelter during the winter months starting the first week in November through March. The following services are available: cots, shower facilities, laundromat tokens, nursing check-ups and two hot meals (dinner and breakfast). Check website for current schedule.

Provides an overnight shelter for any individuals who would otherwise be outside in freezing temperatures, mid-November through Mid-March. This is not a shelter for families. The shelter is open on the nights when temperatures are low during the winter time period. This is a nighttime only shelter; residents are not permitted to stay during the day or to store possessions at the building. Transportation is provided from downtown locations each night 6:00-6:30 pm. In order to get on the bus to the Cold Weather Shelter, prospective residents should attend the evening's community meal at one of the downtown churches and wait for the bus at that location. Prospective residents may also provide their own transportation to the Cold Weather Shelter. Do not arrive the Cold Weather Shelter before 6:30 PM each night.

The City of Lynchburg is anticipating a winter storm beginning Saturday afternoon, January 24 and continuing through Sunday, January 25. Heavy snow and sleet accumulations between six and 12 inches are expected, making travel very difficult to impossible. Extreme cold temperatures are expected to take hold Saturday and continue into next week, which will likely prolong the impact of the storm. The Salvation Army, 2215 Park Avenue, is operating a low-barrier warming center for unsheltered individuals and families in the community. The warming center will be open 24/7 beginning Friday evening, January 23. A hot meal will be served daily at 4:30 p.m. This warming center operation is partially funded by the City of Lynchburg’s Community Development Block Grant. The City is requesting the community’s help collecting the following items for the Salvation Army warming center: • New twin size sheet sets • New blankets or sleeping bags • New pillows • New thermal socks and gloves • Hand warmers • Personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, wipes) • Feminine hygiene products • Shelf-stable snacks (granola bars, crackers, ready-to-eat items) • Instant coffee, tea, or hot cocoa packets • Bottled water or Gatorade • Disposable cups and paper products • Towels These items can be dropped off at the following fire stations between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and before noon Saturday, January 24: • Station 1: 800 Clay Street • Station 3: 4701 Fort Avenue • Station 6: 2084 Fort Avenue • Station 7: 2624 Lakeside Drive GET PREPARED Residents are encouraged to take the following steps ahead of the weekend storm: • Stock emergency supplies (water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries) • Charge phones and backup batteries in case of power outages • Check on your neighbors, especially seniors, those living alone or anyone who may need extra help • Follow City of Lynchburg social media and subscribe to Lynchburg Alerts (details below)

Winter Shelter provides a safe refuge from illness, injury, and death during inclement weather. This Winter Shelter Collaborative is a partnership funded by the Office of Community Services of the City of Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services - with WS services held from 7pm to 7am November 1st through April 15th. For November and April, the openings are dependent on the weather. Non-City of Alexandria residents will have 1 night of winter shelter available prior to returning to their home jurisdiction.

TO OUR HOUSE partners with faith-based and community organizations to provide temporary shelter for SINGLE homeless men and women during winter months (first Saturday in November through end of March). Report daily by 5:30pm to the Intake Center at NRCA; transportation provided to a warm location for the night and return to Intake Center the next morning. Meals provided.

Open Doors provides year-round low-barrier emergency shelter at the Navigation Center. The shelter program operates through a congregant setting, with the initial admission being first come, first serve. The Navigation Center is located at 1111 N. Main St., Harrisonburg, VA 22802.

The Emergency Winter Shelter is open from November 1 through March 31 every year. The EWS is open from 4PM to 9AM. On days when the temperature remains below freezing, the shelter stays open throughout the day.
