Minor children of survivors are eligible to come to the emergency shelter along with their parents. Outreach services provided to survivors living in the community. Many survivors find going through the legal process to be a frightening and overwhelming experience. First Step's Advocates can go with clients to offer moral support and help to create a safe space around them as they go through the process from getting a Protective Order through the entire court process.

Cell phones are available to victims of domestic & sexual violence who do not have phone service in their home or are potential victims of stalking in their travels around the county or Richmond area.
Domestic Violence Unit realizes that a successful approach to stop violence against women can only be accomplished through a coordinated response system that focuses on comprehensive ongoing training, community partnerships, shared case information and resources, and the development of policies and and procedures that work to ensure the safety of victims. The Unit is structured to serve as a central coordinating agency, working with other criminal justice and non-profit agencies to initiate aggressive investigation and prosecution of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking cases.
Provides free education workshops on sexual assault and domestic violence. We provide support and advocacy to the UVA community who have concerns about sexual assault, dating/domestic violence (battering), and stalking. Our goals are to strengthen services for survivors, as well as the University of Virginia policies and procedures that address these issues.

The Coordinated Entry System (CES) is a process developed to ensure that all people experiencing a housing crisis have fair and equal access to available resources and services. ADAPT is Domestic and Sexual Violence Services' 18-week state-certified domestic violence intervention program that utilizes a compassionate approach. ADAPT teaches emotional regulation skills to adult residents of Fairfax County and the cities of Falls Church and Fairfax who have been physically, emotionally, or sexually abusive to a spouse, partner, child, parent or other family member.
