Food for Kids through collaboration with Casa Latina, TAP, and Feeding SWVA. In partnership with local Latino grocery stores in Roanoke, we provide food to families each week, more than half of whom are children.

CVACL offers short-term and/or immediate emergency services for older adults through two programs: Emergency Assistance and Emergency Services Response. The Emergency Assistance Program involves an assessment of individuals' needs and provides specific information and referrals to in-agency and/or community services to help address them. The Emergency Services Response Program also evaluates the needs individuals are facing and provides essential food, medical, personal hygiene, and household items for those who are without access to or resources for them. All fulfilled requests are delivered to recipients' homes.

Home Deliveries : All year round, volunteers deliver bags of produce, eggs, bread and pet food to families without transportation. Plenty Community Farm: Plenty grows organic food for Plenty's programs and offers a community space for volunteering and learning. MarketKids & Food Matters*: Cooking, growing and nutrition educational programming target children and elderly.

Feeding Greene offers food at no cost through 3 Main Programs: (1)Client Choice Program allowing families to "shop" for their own food much like in a normal grocery store, choosing only those items their families will eat. (2) Home Delivery Program providing free delivery to families with no or limited transportation in Greene County on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. (3)BackPack Program providing healthy, easy to prepare food items so children in our local schools can prepare meals over the weekend during the school year. Summer boxes available for pickup during the summer months. Selections of food for these programs include frozen meats, canned fruits and vegetables, beans, dry goods such as pasta and rice, eggs, peanut butter, beverages, deli items, milk, cheese, and other dairy products, and a wide selection of fresh produce. We are aware of how our food choices impact our health and provide nutritional information on the food we offer and label our food according to its nutritional value. We have a Tasting Station and offer samples of healthy recipes every week. We also have collaborations with many other agencies to provide other resources such as help with SNAP applications, Fresh SNAP education, Nutrition Classes, help with choosing health insurance plans, mental health support and accessing free medical equipment. We believe that it takes more than food to help families become self-sufficient.

Provides emergency food baskets with enough food for approximately three days per person.

St. Anne's Episcopal Church assist between 50 to 90 families depending on the time of the year. Food is both purchased and donated, being distributed on the fourth Saturday of the month unless there is a holiday and then it is distributed on the third Saturday.

Provides emergency food for individuals and families referred by public or private social service agencies. Requires emergency referrals by fax and accepts six emergency food referrals per year. Eligible clients may come monthly for USDA commodities through their Emergency Food Assistance Program.

To help improve food insecurity, to respond to the needs of Charles City constituents through food distribution. In emergencies the food pantry will have support services available, to include water, ice, and food distribution.

The Pantry is a member of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and located in the parking lot of St Mary's Catholic Church Food pantry is open last Saturday of every month from 9AM-12Noon. (Except November and December when the pantry is open the last Saturday before the holidays). There is no phone in the food pantry. First time applicants may walk in but must bring proof of Nelson county residency and register. Not necessary to call ahead.
