All participants must be a U.S. Citizen, attend one of the target high schools listed above, have completed 8th grade, be either a first-generation college student or meet income guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of Education, be working toward an Advanced Studies Diploma, and have a desire to go to college.

The Upward Bound Program at WCC is a college prep program designed to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from college. The Upward Bound program serves 57 high school students in grades 9 through 12 from George Wythe High School, Rural Retreat High School, Ft Chiswell High School, Carroll County High School, Galax High School, and Marion Senior High School.
