Eligibility
Anyone 18 years old or older in need of clothing, shoes or household items for themselves or their family. We have no minimum income or asset requirements. We just ask that you bring a valid picture ID each time you visit. We work on the honor system, meaning that if you acquire items from us, they will be used by your family members and will not be resold in any way.

Application process
Clients must register with photo ID prior to receiving clothes
When you arrive at our facility, please check-in with a valid picture ID. If you have completed a new registration form in March 2025 or later, our volunteers will retrieve your registration card from our system. If you are new, we will ask you to fill out a registration card.
Our team of volunteers would be happy to assist you with signing up to "shop" for clothes, shoes and household items. Come to our facility during hours of operation and bring a valid form of identification such as a drivers license or passport.
Families and individuals can "shop" every other month. For example, if you "shop" in March, you may "shop" again in May.

The Salem Area Ecumenical Ministries is a gathering of representatives
(lay and pastoral) from Salem and western Roanoke County churches and local service agencies that work together to reach out to people in need in our community in the name of Christ by coordinating efforts to support: Awareness of and Access to available community resources; Cooperation with other churches and groups in the community to evaluate and address unmet community needs; Service by Putting Our Faith in Action by contributing countless hours in volunteer and financial support to many local social ministries and by reaching out to others in the community; Education and Ministry.
