Assists veterans and their families in obtaining state, federal and local benefits to which they are entitled. Act as informed advocates in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims and serves as a clearinghouse providing information and assistance that will enhance the veteran's quality of life.

(except Federal/State Holidays and scheduled training day) Veterans will be seen from 8:30 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. Customer appointments are accommodated Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and may be scheduled at vesa.dvs.virginia.gov. Walk-ins are welcomed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Office will be closed to the public on the last business day of the month.

The Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is organized into six service delivery sections to include benefits, veterans education, care centers, veterans cemeteries, the Virginia Veteran & Family Support Program and the Virginia War Memorial. Four citizen boards work closely with the agency to support the effective delivery of services to Virginia's veterans, the Board of Veterans Services, the Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Service Organizations, the Veterans Services Foundation, and the Veterans Care Center Advisory Committee.
