Application process

Bring valid government-issued indentification, copy of most recent electric bill including account number, proof of all payments made in past 90 days, proof of income for everyone in household, active termination notice, broken agreement letter or proof service has been disconnected, names/birth dates/Social Security numbers of everyone in household.

Assists low-income Appalachian Power customers with their electric bill. Utility assistance grants applied directly to AEP bill to help maintain or restore basic electric service (up to $300 per calendar year). Eligible customers will have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Available to customers who may not be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. Grants are dispersed on a first-come first-serve basis to eligible applicants and are based on funding availability. Client must have disconnect notice. Bill must be in the name of adult living in the household. Must have paid at leat $100 out of pocket in last 90 days or $75 if over age 65. DOES NOT APPLY TO RECONNECTION FEES.

Main administrative offices for Salvation Army poverty reduction programs (Pathway of Hope, Turning Point, After-Care Services and Angel Tree programs) and location for Christian congregation (Salvation Army Roanoke Corps) activities. Additional needs for house & personal items can be bought at Salvation Army Thrift Store.
