Individuals must: Have documented evidence of an acquired, non-degenerative brain injury which occurred at least 30 days after birth. Be at least 18 years of age. Sign a release for BIS to obtain necessary assessment and referral information. Have legal status in the United States, including but not limited to, student visa, work authorization, Green Card, or citizenship. Reside in Northern Virginia, including Alexandria City, Fredericksburg City, Winchester City, and Arlington, Caroline, Clarke, Culpepper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, King George, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Warren Counties.

Appointment, written application, and specific documents are required.

Services are provided at no cost to the individual.

Description

Assists adults with brain injuries and their families in developing a plan and obtaining services for maximizing independence and quality of life. Services provided include: information and referral, assessment, long-term case management, independent living skills training, job training/finding/coaching, transportation, respite care, socialization and recreation, mental health and behavioral services, day activity programs, and supervised independent living.
