Eligibility

Anyone entering the shelter must be at least 18 YEARS OF AGE, including all volunteers.

Hours

Overnight Shelter operates every night from November – March each year.

(Check the Shelter Schedule for host site locations each week November - March) BUS STOP NOTES: • Bus Stop from Nov. 1st – 7th will be at the Our Health campus (329 N. Cameron Street, Winchester) • Bus Stop from Nov. 15th – March 27th 2026 will be at Winc. Voter Registrar office (107 N. East Lane, Winchester) • Bus drop-off in the mornings will be at the same location as pickup from the night before, until the Warming Center opens on December 1st : o After December 1st, drop-off in the mornings will be at the Warming Center every day (except for Sundays, when the drop-off will be at the same location as pickup from the night before.)

Description

Provides the WATTS program, (Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter) which offers emergency shelter to families and individuals in the City of Winchester and County of Frederick. The program is comprised of various churches who network to provide weekly stays (Monday PM to Monday AM) for those needing emergency shelter during the winter months starting the first week in November through March. The following services are available: cots, shower facilities, laundromat tokens, nursing check-ups and two hot meals (dinner and breakfast). Check website for current schedule.
