Description
For Medicaid-eligible persons who have been screened and have met the requirements for nursing home placement but who, with assistance, can remain in their own homes. Can also serve individuals for private pay and third party payer-reimbursement. Registered nurses (RNs) supervise certified geriatric aides who assist patients with bathing, dressing, feeding, walking, medication monitoring, meals, laundry, shopping, and housekeeping.

MEOC is the area agency on aging and public transit provider for Lee, Wise and Scott Counties and the City of Norton in the southwestern tip of Virginia. MEOC also operates Mountain Empire PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), directs the Southwest Virginia Children's Advocacy Center and Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center, and serves as the aging and disability resource center for its service area.
