Coordinates and activates emergency services in the time of disaster (i.e. rescue, sheltering and medical care). Assigns agencies and volunteer groups at the local level to coordinate and carry out the disaster plan. If a disaster occurs, information on shelters, food, medical care, evacuation routes, etc. can be obtained by calling (540)245-5501 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Administers the Augusta County Emergency Communications Center staffed by highly trained public safety dispatchers who coordinate responses to all 911 calls for police, fire and EMS.
