Fees

Fees varies. Fees are assessed using the most current Dental Hygiene Clinic Fee Schedule approved by Old Dominion University. Fees will be reviewed with patients prior to beginning of treatment. ODU students, faculty, staff, active-duty military (with current ID), those with proof of financial hardship* and adults 62 and older could be eligible to receive a $5.00 discount.

Treatment at the School of Dental Hygiene is provided by students in a teaching and learning environment. Student dental hygienists complete a thorough dental hygiene assessment to determine patient needs, present a comprehensive treatment plan and associated oral hygiene education, and provide clinical services to promote oral and overall health. Each phase of treatment is also checked by licensed dental hygiene faculty. Services provided Assessments: Medical & dental history; blood pressure; head and neck exam; oral cancer screening; periodontal disease; radiographic examination (x-rays); oral and systemic risk assessment; and dental caries (cavities) risk assessment. Treatments: Oral prophylaxis (preventive cleaning), periodontal therapy (deep cleaning), dental sealants, fluoride application, athletic mouth guards, desensitization, custom whitening trays, oral health education, laser assisted periodontal therapy (LAPT), silver diamine fluoride application for arresting early decay, and more
