Description
Offers support to individuals with heart disease, their family members and cardiac care professionals. Visits patient/family in hospital before and after surgery and maintains telephone contact thereafter. Holds monthly meetings: four each year are informational; six are support groups and two are social. Also publishes bimonthly newsletters containing cardiac-related information. Make visits to heart surgery patients 365 days/year at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Heart and Vascular Institute and Virginia Hospital Center (formerly Arlington Hospital). Have provided over 1262 Therapeutic Heart Shaped Cough Pillows during 3,558 visits to heart surgery patients.
