Description
Assists low-income Appalachian Power customers with their electric bill. Utility assistance grants applied directly to AEP bill to help maintain or restore basic electric service (up to $300 per calendar year). Eligible customers will have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Available to customers who may not be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. Grants are dispersed on a first-come first-serve basis to eligible applicants and are based on funding availability. Client must have disconnect notice. Bill must be in the name of adult living in the household. Must have paid at leat $100 out of pocket in last 90 days or $75 if over age 65. DOES NOT APPLY TO RECONNECTION FEES.

Our programs include Emergency Assistance and Food Pantries, Head Start, Children's Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP), Swift Start, Homeless and Housing Programs, To Our House men and women's winter shelter, Virginia CARES, and free assistance with tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
