Eligibility
AEP Customers Only. Total gross household income must be at or below 150%
of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Must have paid at least $100
on their account in the 90 days prior to applying ($75 if over age
62). Must have outstanding balance on account of at least $100. Must
have already applied for all other available state and federally
funded programs. Account must be for residential service and not
cooking only; commercial, industrial, or apartments with shared
utilities. Name on account must be of an adult currently living in the
home.

Assistance is offered on a first-come, first-served basis (This applies to complete application).
Applicants can receive assistance once during a funding period.

Appalachian Power and Dollar Energy Fund have teamed up to offer assistance to our neighbors in need. Assists low-income Appalachian Power customers who have difficulty paying their electric bill. Eligible customers will receive a utility assistance grant applied directly to their Appalachian Power bill to help maintain or restore basic electric service (up to $300 per calendar year). Eligible customers will have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Available to customers who may not be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. Grants are dispersed on a first-come first-serve basis to eligible applicants and are based on funding availability.
