Eligibility

Open to all women and members of the gender-expansive community in need of individual, couples or family counseling.

*Call-In Schedule Walk-In Schedule: Every Tuesday: 10am–12pm Sentara Martha Jefferson's Community Health and Outreach Center, 920 E. High St. Wednesdays: 2–4pm (Counseling in Spanish available) Main Office, 1101 E. High St. Wednesdays: 3–5pm Rivanna Area Queer Center, 801 W. Main St. 3rd Thursdays: 10:30am–12:30pm The Point’s The Hub, 105 Ridge St.

Application process

Self-referral; First come, first served: We suggest arriving or calling toward the beginning of the clinic and no later than one hour before the end of clinic hours. Clinics provide a chance to meet with a counselor for the first time to discuss your needs and learn about your care options at The Women’s Initiative.

Provides individual counseling to women facing loss, illness, life change, emotional distress, chronic stress, and traumatic events. Our services empower women to develop increased self-awareness and self-care skills. Treatment is provided by professional counselors and social workers committed to helping women discover their own capacity for personal growth in challenging times. Also offers couples and family counseling. Individual counseling services are available for uninsured and under-insured women.
