Description

If you have lost the right to vote as a result of a felony conviction in a Virginia court, a UUnited States District or a military court the restoration of rights restores the rights to vote, to run for and hold public office, to serve on juries and to serve as a notary public. It does not include the right to possess or transport any firearm or to carry a concealed weapon. Contact Micah Womack, Director of Rights Restoration or Candice Reid, Asst. The Secretary of the Commonwealth assists the Governor in making appointments to Virginia’s boards, commissions and councils; granting the restoration of civil rights; managing clemency petitions, extraditions, and service of process; authenticating documents; and commissioning Notaries Public. The Secretary of the Commonwealth acts as the Governor’s liaison to Virginia’s Indian Tribes, as well as the Council on Women, the Virginia Latino Advisory Board, the Virginia Asian Advisory Board and the Virginia African American Advisory Board
