Covington City Warming center on standby at Council Chambers, City Hall, 333 W. Locust Street in Covington. If power is lost, the center will be activated upon request. To request call 540-965-6333. Clifton Forge: The Clifton Forge Fire Department, 701 Church Street, and the Clifton Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1610 Hickory Avenue, will be open as warming stations starting at 0700 hours on Saturday, January 24, 2026, to Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to the predicted winter storm. The stations may be open for a longer period of time based on the impacts of the storm. If anyone needs assistance getting to one of these locations, contact the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office at 540-965-1770 ext. 0.
