Adult volunteers call clients who are homebound once a week, at a regularly scheduled time, for an informal chat. The focus of this service is to let shut-ins know that someone is thinking about them, provide companionship, and assist older adults in maintaining connections within their community.

The Shepherd's Center of Fairfax-Burke is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, that serves older adults with free transportation provided by caring volunteers to medical appointments and food access. Volunteers also make minor home repairs, calls to isolated older adults, organize exercise classes and enrichment activities.
