Claude Moore Precious Time (CMPT) is a pediatric respite care program for families who have children with special needs. In partnership with James Madison University nursing students, CMPT provides a break for caregivers free of charge. CMPT works with families who live within a one hour drive (one way) from JMU. Through CMPT, JMU nursing students travel to family homes and provide respite care as part of a student learning experience. .

Families are matched with James Madison University nursing students who visit the family's home to provide respite care as part of a student learning experience. JMU nursing students enrich their professional development and gain insight into the challenges of caring for children with special needs. Precious Time is coordinated by the James Madison University Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services. Precious Time is made possible through grant funding from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation. Precious Time serves families who live within a one hour drive (one way) of James Madison Univeristy.
