EnergyShare - Norfolk, Energy Share, Salvation Army - Hampton Roads Area Command

Eligibility

For those facing financial hardship from unemployment, a family crisis, or a chronic medical condition, EnergyShare is Dominion's energy assistance program of last resort. There is no income guideline requirement, however, clients must show some level of hardship and have a disconnect notice, payment plan or reconnect costs to qualify. Service Area- Applicants must reside in our geographic service area. Those outside of that area should be able to apply with another Salvation Army army closer to them.

9am to 3pm from Monday through Friday

Application process

Call the Housing Crisis Hotline (757-587-4202) for referral. ALL REFERRALS MUST GO THROUGH THIS PROCESS. Housing Crisis will forward 25-50 applicants to the Salvation Army each week on Mondays. Salvation Army will review accounts for eligibility, then for those qualified, contact them by phone or e-mail. Applicants have 5 business days to respond to our attempts to contact before their case is cancelled and returned to Housing Crisis. Applicants that qualify for assistance and complete our over the phone intake will receive a pledge to their Dominion account immediately. Payment may take up to 45 days.
