Operates in centers throughout the area that serve a hot nutritious noontime meal and provide a variety of activities designed to enhance the health and wellbeing of older adults. Each congregate nutrition center is part of the MEOC Wellness Is Now or "WIN" initiative and maintains a focus on disease prevention/health promotion by offering a low impact exercise program, health screenings, nutrition and health education, as well as, music, storytelling, quilting, crafts, games and recreational outings. Mountain Empire Older Citizens
MEOC is the area agency on aging and public transit provider for Lee, Wise and Scott Counties and the City of Norton in the southwestern tip of Virginia. MEOC also operates Mountain Empire PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), directs the Southwest Virginia Children's Advocacy Center and Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center, and serves as the aging and disability resource center for its service area.
