Section 8 is a voucher project that's either "project" based (limited to a specific apartment complex) or "tenant" based (where a tenant is free to choose any unit in any apartment). The purpose of the program is to provide a healthy and safe place to rent for a reasonable cost. The amount of assistance is based the income level of a particular applicant and their family. **Currently Closed: DRHA Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program permits eligible participants in the HCVP the option of purchasing a home with their HCVP assistance rather than renting. Through a partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of Danville, Inc. (NHSD) and Housing Opportunities Made Equal (H.O.M.E.), DRHA is making homeownership a reality to low and moderate income families in Danville.
