Eligibility

Qualified applicants must demonstrate a need, have the ability to pay, and be willing to partner with Habitat throughout the process.

Application process

The agency accepts applications once or twice a year, depending on number of houses available. Interested persons are strongly encouraged to attend an application class to ensure application is completed correctly. Qualified applicants proceed to the next round where our Family Services Committee makes a final selection based on those criteria. Fees

When applications are accepted, GLHFH collects $80 per applicant (adults in household) to cover the cost of credit reports, which are included as part of the application process.

The GLHFH homeownership program supports low income families in attaining affordable permanent housing. The program partners with the family and volunteers to build a simple, decent home. Families are expected to complete 200-300 hours of sweat equity (volunteer labor) toward the building of Habitat homes. Families must participate in an educational program. The home is sold to the family with a no interest mortgage.
