Provides pre-professional, individualized and focused instructional programs in dance, instrumental and vocal music, musical theatre, and visual arts for students with a high degree of innate artistic talent and potential for growth. Students are committed to developing their talent and are considering or planning careers in the arts.

The Governor's School for the Arts
The Governor's School for the Arts is a center for innovation that develops excellence, nurtures creativity, inspires artistic vision and builds communities with a passion for the arts. We serve gifted high school artist, in grades 9-12, who attend a public high school in Chesapeake, Franklin, Isle of Wight, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. Interested students must apply, audition and be accepted in one of 6 programs: dance, instrumental music, musical theatre, theatre & film, visual arts and vocal music.
