Volunteer Programs - North Tazewell, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, Clinch Valley Community Action
Engages persons age 55 and older in activities which meet community needs. RSVP volunteers have been serving in our communities since 1972. Benefits to the volunteer include: 77 agencies and hundreds of assignments, * insurance while volunteering *, recognition of volunteer services. RSVP projects include: Head Start, food pantries, American Heart Association, United Way, America Reads, health fairs, nursing home placements, Neighborhood Watch, Chamber of Commerce, libraries, schools, Red Cross Bloodmobile, and many others.

Application process
Walk-ins and telephone referrals accepted. Due to safety issues and confidentiality, participants may request to meet staff off site or have materials sent to them by mail.

A private non-profit corporation established in 1965. The primary service area is Tazewell County with limited services provided in Bland County, Buchanan County, Russell County, Smyth County and Wythe County. Locally managed and governed by a Board of Directors for the purpose of eliminating poverty and promoting self-sufficiency. One third of the Board of Directors are local elected officials or their designees, one third are representatives of local businesses or civic organizations, and one third are representatives of low-income communities.
