Description
Serves as a legislative branch of city government, elected by the voters of Suffolk in General Council elections. The city council is the policy determining body and is vested with rights and powers to appoint the City Manager, City Attorney, City Assessor, Clerk to Council, Board Members and Commissioners. The City Council also adopts ordinances, and appropriates money for all purposes.
