Clarke County Department of Social Services (CCDSS) is the locally administered office of the Virginia Department of Social Services. CCDSS administers Child Protective Services, In-Home and Prevention Services, Foster Care, Fostering Futures, and Adoption for families and children. CCDSS also provides Adult Protect Services and Adult Services for the elderly and disabled. In addition to services programs, Clarke County Department of Social Services administers benefit programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps), Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Child Care Subsidy, Employment Assistance, and Energy Assistance programs.
