Provides training and information to middle and high school students that prepares them to make good decisions about their post-high school plans. Encourages students to continue their education beyond the high school level and provide on-going support and advisement. Serves the middle and high schools in Bristol Virginia, Washington County, Virginia and Chilhowie and Northwood schools in Smyth County, Virginia.

The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge offers over 100 scholarship opportunities. Scholarships benefit graduating high school seniors and adult learners seeking new skills and higher education, and includes the pursuit of a technical certificate at a community college or trade school, associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or graduate degree.

We partner with schools and youth programs to transform their locations into captivating spaces where students can engage in targeted, hands-on literacy sessions that blend reading, writing, and critical thinking exercises with real-world problem-solving scenarios in safe tech spaces.

Provides individual, couple and family therapy, adoption evaluation, business and organizational consultation. Some of the issues include divorce/separation, infidelity, pre-marital counseling, couple and marital enrichment, couple and family communication and conflict resolution, parenting and step-parenting, infertility, sexual difficulties, and work-family balance.

Provides support services for students who want to enroll in Eastern Shore Community College.

Provides tutoring and mentoring for 5-8th graders at Walker Upper Elementary and Buford Middle Schools from 3:30PM-5:00PM Monday-Thursday. Tutor-mentors provide one-to-one academic help as well as spend time with their students outside of tutoring. This program uses incentives and offers field trips.

Awards merit-based scholarships ranging from $1000-$5000. Requires 3 years of federal or postal service, a 3.0 grade point average and enrollment in a post-secondary degree granting program. Not available to active duty or retired military families unless civilian employment requirement is also met.

Makes a difference in the lives of children who are seriously emotionally disturbed by providing a positive and caring role model, known as a mentor, who spends quality time finding a child's strengths and building on them. Mentors also teach social skills, anger management, and much more while also working with parents, and assisting with school-related challenges.

Federal student aid from the Department of Education covers such expenses as tuition and fees, housing and food, books and supplies, and transportation. Aid can also help pay for other related expenses, such as a computer and dependent care. A free, confidential service provided to middle and high school students. The program helps students develop healthy coping skills, make positive lifestyle choices and deal with the many challenges of adolescence.

A partnership between the Faith-community, area organizations and businesses, the Lynchburg Police Department, concerned citizens, the Sheriff’s Department, and the City of Lynchburg. We address poverty and crime by encouraging best policing practices that allow citizens input, advocating for the community, offering programs and services, and providing engagement opportunities that result in a greater sense of unity among Lynchburg's citizens.

A group of business women who meet regularly to network with fellow business women and support our community by providing local scholarships. Awards 3 scholarships per year to high school students, young mothers attending Germanna Community College and women over age 25 for further education. Application is announced in the local newspaper and is available in early April. Submission is due by June. Also raises money for Services for Abused Families.

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Education Program offers grants and interest-free loans for undergraduate or master's degree at an accredited 2- or 4-year post-secondary, technical or vocational institution in the United States.

The Write Stuff School Supply program provides a backpack filled with age appropriate school supplies to children grades K-12 to ensure they have what they need to start the school year.

Offers emergency assistance through a private, non-profit religious and charitable organization. Services provided include Homelessness Prevention (Rent/Mortgage), Prescription Medicine Assistance, Clothing (provided through the Family Thrift Store), Furniture and Appliance Assistance (For fire/flood victims and those transitioning from homelessness), Utility, Heating Fuel, Wood, School Supplies and Counseling. *Does not provide hotel or motel assistance.

Provides tutoring for K-4th graders, from 2:15PM-4:15PM, Monday-Thursday. Children have 1:1 tutoring in reading and math, computer lab, and enrichment time. Kids are invited to optional Bible Club on Fridays designed to enrich academically.

Project Discovery is a free college and career readiness program being offered to 9-12th grade students who attend Charles City County High School and King & Queen County Central High School. The program helps students achieve post-secondary success by providing a variety of resources tailored to students’ plans. Students attend college campus tours, learn about the different military branches, explore career pathways, and give back through community service. Project Discovery promotes education to end the cycle of poverty for our current students and future generations.

Through a school-based coordinator, CIS strategically aligns and delivers needed resources so that students can focus on learning. CIS builds relationships with students, teachers, families, and multiple community resources, with a singular focus, improving academic achievement. CIS partners with local businesses, civic groups, faith communities, public agencies and community volunteers to create resources and deliver quality programming for students and families in-need. We serve students in grades Pre-K through the 12th grade at six (9) Chesterfield County Schools.

UNCF awards scholarships and internships to students from low- and moderate-income families. Scholarships are for 4 year accredited colleges (does not include technical school, community college, vocation/trade programs, etc.)

Project Discovery is school drop-out prevention, college access preparatory program serving economically disadvantaged and first generation college students.
